My favorite newsletters to improve your mental health

Email newsletters – some love them, others hate them. I have a feeling that you’re in the “love” camp considering you clicked on this article. Me too. I think a well-curated selection of newsletters can bring joy to our day, keep us up-to-date on topics we care about, and inspire us to reach whatever goals we’re working towards.

If you’re looking to boost your inbox with some mental health and wellness goodness, then you’ve come to the right place. These are my personal favorite newsletters to subscribe to that boost my mental and emotional state.

Wondermind

I was pleasantly surprised by this website when it first launched. Started by Selena Gomez and co., Wondermind offers truly helpful advice on all manner of mental health challenges. The articles are easy-to-understand, practical, and entertaining. In addition to curating a themed selection of articles, the newsletter has extra goodies like self-care tips, music recommendations, and thought-provoking questions. 

The New Happy

You may have seen one of The New Happy’s viral graphics on your social media feeds. The brilliant mind behind the posts is Stephanie Harrison, aka The New Happy. Her mission is to use science-backed research to reframe how people view happiness. This primarily comes in the form of the most aesthetically pleasing, minimalist graphics ever. She’s found the key to illustrating complex mental health concepts in the most digestible way possible. If you’re a fan, be sure to check out her book, “New Happy.” The newsletter puts her recent posts in one place for you, so you can soak up all the wisdom at once.

James Clear’s 3-2-1

Author of the wildly popular self-improvement book “Atomic Habits,” James Clear has a weekly newsletter that’s short and sweet, but jam-packed with helpful advice. The 3-2-1 format includes three short ideas from him, two quotes from others, and one question to ponder. I always take away something helpful for the following week. If you like quick reads, this is the newsletter for you.

NPR Life Kit

Just about everything you’ve ever wondered how to do – from handling a power outage and decluttering your home to cutting down on waste and acing a job interview – NPR’s Life Kit has you covered. I don’t know about y’all, but having these tedious things taken care of is fantastic for my mental health, which is why I added this to the list. Their newsletter is a handy little resource of all these helpful tips, delivered straight to you. 

Whatever you’re into!

The newsletters that improve your mental health the most are the ones that bring you joy. Thankfully in our modern times, you can find a newsletter for whatever you’re into. Gardening? Here’s one from Garden Design. Rock climbing? Climbing magazine has a newsletter for you. Personally, I love to read, so I subscribe to several book-centric newsletters, like What to Read If. I suggest perusing a site like Substack and finding a topic that excites you. Suddenly checking your email will be a little more fun!
